1.) Leaving

When a pupil leaves your school, they ought to be archived. This means that the school is no longer paying for their licence and that they are no longer linked to a class. To archive students’ accounts, please follow these steps:

  1. Go to Manage > Students.
  2. Tick the names of any students who are leaving the school.
  3. Scroll to the top of the student list and select ‘Archive’ from the ‘Actions’ menu.
  4. Click the ‘Apply’ button.

2.) Moving

When children move classes or year groups, you have two options: 2.1 your pupils can move themselves, or 2.2 you can move them yourself.

2.1. Pupils to move themselves

  1. Login to the Teacher Dashboard and go to ‘Manage’, then ‘Classes’.
  2. In actions, select ‘View Class Code’ and share this with your class.
  3. Your pupils need to open the app and select ‘Class code? Click here’.
  4. Using the class code, follow the instructions provided in the app.

2.2 Teachers to move pupils

  1. Login to the Teacher Dashboard and go to ‘Manage’, then ‘Students’.
  2. Select the names of the pupils you are moving by checking the box next to their name.
  3. From ‘Actions’ select ‘Change Class’.

3.) Arriving

If you are rolling out Doodle to new pupils, there are different steps to follow depending on whether you are creating a new class (3.1), or whether you are adding new arrivals to an existing class (3.2).

3.1 New class

  1. Login to the Teacher Dashboard and select ‘Manage’, then ‘Classes’.
  2. Using the ‘Add New Class’ button, add the class name and year group.
  3. Contact your school account manager for them to flip the class to Premium.
  4. Choose whether you would like children to create their own accounts by creating a class code (option 1), or whether you would like to create the accounts for them (option 2).

Option 1

  • Select the class to view the class code.
  • Your pupils need to open the app and select ‘Class code? Click here’.
  • Type in the verification code, tap ‘I need to create a doodle account’ and follow further instructions provided in the app.

Option 2

  • Select the class and click on ‘Add Students’. Then, create a spreadsheet with three columns: first name, surname and date of birth. Click on ‘Check’, and usernames and passwords will be created automatically. Then click on ‘Submit’, and finally ‘Confirm’.
  • A spreadsheet with the login details will be downloaded automatically. Make sure you save this somewhere secure for future reference as passwords will not be viewable on the Teacher Dashboard once the students have been created.

3.2 Existing class

  1. Login to the Teacher Dashboard and select ‘Manage’, then ‘Students’.
  2. Click on the blue ‘Create student account(s)’ button.
  3. Choose whether you would like children to create their own accounts by creating a class code (option 1) or whether you would like to create the accounts for them (option 2).

Option 1

  • Select the option to create a class code.

Copy and paste this into the box.
