The Teacher Dashboard not only allows you to monitor your students' progress; support your students; and edit your classes and teachers but is your go to place for help, support and resources to help you make the most out of Doodle within your school!
The first time you visit each page you will be greeted by a product tour for this specific page. This will walk you through the key features of that page.
If you wish to visit this again at any point, just click on the green 'i' button on that page and the tour will start again!
Login to the Teacher Dashboard (teachers.doodlemaths.com) using your school email and your Doodle password.
On the homepage you will see the following:
- Message from Doodle - here we will keep you updated with our latest news from Doodle including details of our latest app versions to ensure you are always up to date!
- Top Doodlers - here you can see the class with the highest percentage of students on target. We highly recommend rewarding the Top Doodling class each week during your celebration assembly. You can quickly toggle between the different apps by clicking on the corresponding icon.
- Linked Students - when a student with a home user account has linked their account to your school it will appear here. This makes it really easy to verify them by clicking on the Verify them here link. A pop-up will then appear and you will be able to move the student into the appropriate Maths and/or English class, or remove them if they are not a student at your school. Once the class has been selected, be sure to select Update for this save to made.
To toggle between DoodleMaths, DoodleTables, DoodleEnglish and DoodleSpell, all you need to do is click on the corresponding icon. The selected programme will be indicated with a grey circle around the icon. For more information on how to do this, please see this article.
To return back to the homepage at any point, just click on the Doodle logo in the top left hand corner.
By using the drop down menu on Manage you can access your teachers, classes and students. You can add new teachers, classes and students. In addition, you can add students or teachers to a class.
Here you can view all the teachers linked with your school. To edit any of their details (e.g. name, email, teacher type or to delete them) just click on them in the table and an Edit Teacher pop-up will appear. Be sure to press save for your changes to be made.
Here you can view all of your classes. You can see the class name, year, student count, subscription status and subscription end date. To switch between DoodleMaths and DoodleEnglish classes, just click on the DoodleMaths/DoodleTables or DoodleEnglish/DoodleSpell icon in the top right hand corner. The chosen subject will be indicated with a grey rectangle around the corresponding subject icons.
To add a class, click on the Add Maths/Tables Class or Add English/Spell Class button in the top right hand corner. Once the class has been added, you will need to contact your Account Manager about making it premium. You then need to go into the class and select Add Students. Here you can input students manually, or copy and paste their information from a spreadsheet. If you would like Doodle to automatically generate the username or password for you, please leave the username/password column blank. You will then be able to download the login slips to send home and a spreadsheet with the login details. We highly recommend saving a copy of this as, due to GDPR, we are only able to store to passwords if they are encrypted on our database. If a child forgets their password, you will be able to create a new one, but not access the old one.
To edit a class, just click on the class and a pop-up will appear. Here you can edit the class name and year. As the work programmes are adaptive to each individual child, inputting the year group does not have an impact upon the work that is set. You can also see the class code, subscription status and subscription end date (this is uneditable). Again, be sure to press save to ensure changes are made.
To add students to the class, you can click on the class and the edit class pop-up will appear. You can then select the Add Students button. You will then be able to populate the class by inputting the students details and create usernames and passwords for them. You can copy and paste their information from a spreadsheet to speed things up for you! Bet sure to have the spreadsheet in the below format:
If you would like Doodle to automatically generate the username or password for you, please leave the username/password column blank. You will then need to press the Check button. (Please note, these need to be unique for users across the whole Doodle platform, so you may need to try a few variations.)
Here you can see all of your students or select to see students in particular classes. You can also search for a particular student by typing in the search bar.
The table will show you which classes they are in, their username, whether there is parent account linked and their last login.
To edit a student just click on their name in the table and an Edit Student pop-up will appear. Here you will be able to edit their name, username, password, date of birth and class. Be sure to press Save to ensure the changes are made. You will also be able to view the parent email linked to the account, but this is uneditable.
This is also where you can create a new student account or accounts. Click on the Create student account(s) button and choose to either:
- Create single student student account - an Add Student pop-up will appear. Here you will be able to add their name, username, password, date of birth, and class. Be sure to press Add to ensure the changes are made.
- Create several student accounts - a Select a class to add student to pop-up will appear. Once you have chosen your DoodleMaths and/or DoodleEnglish class, press Add Students and you will be directed to Populate Class. Here you need to input the students' details. You can copy and paste their information from a spreadsheet to speed things up for you! If you would like Doodle to automatically generate the username or password for you, please leave the username/password column blank. You will then need to press the Check button. (Please note, these need to be unique for users across the whole Doodle platform, so you may need to try a few variations.)
Analyse allows you to view a wealth of information to ensure you keep track of your pupils' progress. Within the Analyse section, you are able to view effort, progress, gaps and programme health.
Goals & Targets
We recommend that teachers check this page on a weekly basis to ensure that your students are using Doodle and are within their green target zone.
In order to view data for a particular class, make sure you select your class from the drop down at the top of the screen. This is essentially your mark book, where the marking has been done for you! You can change the time period that the data displays for either 7 days, 14 days or select a custom time. To view data for different subjects, be sure to switch between the subjects by clicking on the corresponding icon at the top right of the dashboard. For more information on how to do this, please see this article.
In the table that appears below, you will be able to see an overview of the stars earned data for that class The colour of the circles indicate the number of stars earned that day. If you hover over the circles on the dashboard you can what the different colours correspond to. Hovering over the circle will also tell you exactly how that student earned their stars that day.
We highly recommend checking this page to see whether your students are within their green target zone or not. Why not try rewarding each student within their target zone on a weekly basic, perhaps by rewarding them with a Doodle sticker or house point. Doodle will automatically create a personalised goal for each child and suggest a recommended number of stars to earn. This is a number of stars that is achievable when a child Doodles for a few minutes a day. For the majority of your students the personalised default Doodle target will be sufficient. However, for some children who may need more support in their learning (perhaps students with an EHCP) and who need to catch up, you can create custom goals.
To set a custom goal:
- Select the little pencil icon in the far right column under Edit goal.
- Choose an end date for when you would like the student to have achieved that particular goal.
- Doodle will then recommend a set of achievable goals and the weekly target number of stars required to achieve that goal.
- Decide upon the goal and click on it, then press Save.
The child will not see what their goal is, they will only be able to see whether they are working within their target zone or not.
You can download the data on the Analyse > Goals and Targets page as a spreadsheet by clicking on Export.
Within the progress page, you are able to see how your pupils’ Doodle Age has changed over time and also the % of end of End of Year objectives covered. A blue bar (or purple for DoodleEnglish) shows an increase whereas a red bar shows a decrease. This is because of recalibration.
You can choose the time period and which measure of progress (DoodleAge or EoY objectives covered) you want to view.
DoodleMaths Age is a way of measuring your student's overall level of understanding. If a child has a DoodleMaths Age of 7.5, they will be working at the level of an average 7-and-a-half year old. We calculate this by looking at the point your child is in their work program in terms of the questions they are currently being asked. We then compare this to the average age of other children in our system who are at a similar point in their program.
In order to view Progress Data for a particular class, make sure you select your class from the drop down at the top of the screen. You can change the time period that the data displays for either 7 days, 14 days or select a bespoke time. To view data for different subjects, be sure to switch between the subjects by clicking on the corresponding icon at the top right of the dashboard. For more information on how to do this, please see this article.
Click on a child’s bar to view their progress compared to their age.
You can view a graph for the whole class or for individual students.
As children use Doodle more and more, the programme builds up a good understanding of their strengths and weaknesses. Gaps is arranged according to the national curriculum age-related expectations (AREs) and allows you to view your pupils’ understanding of each strand.
You can see a RAG rating and the percentage of content covered in order to assess a child’s understanding. Or, you can choose to view the Raw Data (% covered).
By clicking on Students at the top of the page, you can select an individual (by clicking on their name) to see their progress against the ARE strands for particular year groups. You will be able to see a blue bar to show you the percentage of that ARE covered and a RAG rating for their understanding. Green with a white plus sign shows they have mastered that particular area.
Don't be alarmed if your students are covering content below their year group. This is because Doodle works by filling in any gaps from previous learning to ensure that your teaching can build upon this. The most important thing is that the questions they are being asked are sufficiently challenging to them as an individual to ensure progress, without being excessively difficult and leaving them demoralised.
Alternatively, you can select an ARE strand to view all pupils’ progress against that topic. Make sure you select the class, ARE Area and specific ARE at the top and then select Apply.
If you feel a child would benefit from extra practice in a particular area, click on the arrow to the left of the ARE to expand that topic, then click on the add sign in order to add an extra.
Again, you can download all of this data by pressing the Export button in the top right hand corner.
Programme is one of the tools that we recommend every teacher checks once per week. It should take no more than five minutes in your week, but it means you are able to check that everything is working as it should. Here you can select your class from the drop down menu at the top, and then see how the programme is performing for each student. You will be able to see the following:
- Accuracy: student accuracy over the last 100 attempts. The accuracy should be between 75-95%.
- Time per question (in seconds): average time to complete a question over the last 100 attempts. The average question time is 17s.
- Tricky questions: the number of questions a student has marked as 'tricky' to come back to later. We recommend that students don't have any more than 5-10 questions in their Trick Questions folder. Once saved to Tricky Questions this indicates to the app that the child is struggling with this particular topic and you can help the student with this question.
- Questions answered per week: the average number of questions answered per week over the last three months. (This will be blank if a pupil has been using the programme for less than three months.)
Use this information to check that your pupils are working at the right level. If there are any causes for concern they will flag up in amber or red, and will have a little exclamation mark next to them.
If you hover over this you will see a suggestion for how to help ensure the programme is better suited to that child. Doodle will give you a guide, but use your teacher judgement as you know your students best of all!
This data can be downloaded by clicking on the Export button.
- Select Analyse > Programme
- Select the class the student is in.
- Click on the recalibrate arrow in the right hand column.
- If the account is already in recalibration, this will be indicated here as well.
In order to support any areas of weakness and supplement learning you may wish to add extras. These can be added to a whole class or to specific children. These will then appear on their home screen under Extras. The extras are an additional feature and are not part of the adaptive, personalised learning programme. We therefore recommend only setting these occasionally (no more than twice per week). We also encourage you to check the extra before you assign it to students so that you are sure it is something that is accessibly to them. The student will have to get an 80% accuracy before the app will move them. If they have an accuracy of below this, they will have to repeat the extra and achieve this accuracy before accessing any other areas of the app.
To add extras you need to hover over Extras and select Assign Extras. You can either search for the relevant ARE or scroll through. Click on the ARE title to view the exact questions that will appear so that you can feel confident that the student can complete them. Click Add to assign.
Select when the extra will become available and which pupils you would like to receive the extra.
Be sure to click Add once you have finished. For more information on Added Extras, please see here.
Here you can view how well your pupils have done on any extras assigned in the previous four weeks.
In Analyse, you can select your class and the extra for which you want to view the results.
You will see an overview of all extras added for that class. You will be able to see if they have completed the extra and how well they have done by hovering over the circle.
You can go into the extra and look at how well that child has done with the specific questions by clicking on the extra added which appears at the top of the table. This will show you which questions a child answered correctly or incorrectly. Hover over the star to see what the specific question was.
If an extra has been assigned to multiple pupils, they will receive the questions in the same order, helping to identify areas of weakness within your class.
You can also delete assigned extras from here by clicking on Remove All.
If you'd like to create your own extras, you can!
To create a Custom Extra, click on the Create An Extra button.
Insert a lesson title, year group and description, then start adding your questions. Always put the correct answer in answer A. Once published, this will be randomised.
Once you have finished, save your extra. Click on the extra to either assign the lesson, delete the lesson or share it with your colleagues.
The resources tab at the top of the page contains everything you will need to make the most out of Doodle at your school. This is your 'go-to' page for all resources you need to launch Doodle at your school and implement it successfully, and to help you make the most out of Doodle as the year goes on. Simply click on Resources and you will find:

To view your teacher account information click on your name which will appear in the top right hand corner of the dashboard and select My Account. Here you will be able to change your password. Just make sure you press Update to ensure all changes are saved.
